Carinbundi

Carinbundi is the trading name of Burnett Respite Services Inc.

It is also the name by which the General Respite facility, located in North Bundaberg, is known.

This facility has been developed since 1994 to provide short term, planned and unplanned respite for people with a disability.

Carinbundi is a six bedroom facility with a large community room, ensuring all guests are entertained through a variety of media including television, pay TV, movies, games and quiet spots for reading. The facility also has a heated pool for the use of guests, a large outdoor area and access to computers for those who are technologically adept.

Generally, this facility accommodates adults and young people over the age of 18.  All attempts are made to make respite bookings that are age and gender appropriate.

(Please see the link to Children's Respite to find out more about services for those aged 15 years and under).

Planned respite bookings are made on a quarterly basis, with all attempts made to accommodate the needs of  families accessing respite.  While Carinbundi will try and meet the needs of all families, especially in relation to advanced bookings, all families are reminded to keep the booking letters sent out as these are the actual dates for respite, and are completed based on the current needs at the time of writing.

The service also has the capacity to respond on an emergency basis, dependant on availability of beds and level of need.   Unfortunately, the ever increasing demand on the facility means there is a similar decrease in our capacity to respond to respite requests at short notice. We will always be looking to identify ways to rectify this. Check out the "Future Respite Needs" page to see what our immediate priorities are in teh respite field.
